Elias has a nice life now that Kameron is alpha. He’s in his senior year, his father is happily mated with a man, and Elias can finally be himself without fearing someone might hurt him. What could go wrong?
Blake fled Gillham six years earlier, when he realized his best friend’s son, Elias, was his mate. Elias was only twelve at the time, and their alpha was homophobic. But now Blake is an enforcer, and the council sends him back to Gillham, where he knows he’ll have to face both his best friend, Thomas, and Elias.
Elias realizes Blake is his mate as soon as they meet again. He’s happy about it, even though his father certainly isn’t. Blake and Elias decide to wait until Elias graduates to mate, but between creatures that lurk in the dark and new questionable friends, will they make it to June in one piece?
Elias Gillham Pack Book 8 edition by Catherine Lievens Romance eBooks
Elias is 18 with a few months left of high school. His crush is finally working into a date. Life is good. Then in steps his mate.Blake has known Elias was his mate for six years. Back then Elias was 12 and the son of his best friend. Of course he has to leave. He becomes an enforcer for the council and on a new assignment he heads back to his old pack. He reunites with his old friend and acknowledges his mate for the first time. Of course this shocks everyone.
I've enjoyed many of Catherine Lievens stories. Unfortunately this one reminded me too much of another shifter story, one I read awhile back, one I had to search to find: Absentee Wolf [Strays 4] by Tedi Sinclair. Best friends with the dad, has to leave the pack while the son grows up. Reunited and the story is about making the mating work. In Absentee Wolf the younger guy was angry about the whole thing and wouldn't forgive his absent mate. Yes there were differences in comparing the two stories but it threw off my enjoyment of this one.
In Elias Blake never stood up for what he wanted. He kept listening to his best friend and let that view come before his own or even his mates. It was annoying. Inadequate thoughts like not measuring up, being too old, people will judge me -- All those kept repeating themselves. But Elias was understanding and forgiving and was thrilled. Elias was great, Blake the more experienced older shifter was not.
I'm glad there was progress on the 'monster' in the forest. Those details were a long time coming. I have a feeling he's another lab experiment that went wrong. Yes it was great to see some progress on the overarching plot and a bit more on some past characters. But those didn't help the odd mating between an 18 year old, a high school student, and an older wolf. A guy older than his father. A guy that changed his diapers, was there during his birth. Yeah, that did bother me even if Elias acted more mature than his mate.
And the odd thing in Zach's story the age difference wasn't emphasized as much. Yet that relationship was with a 20 year old and a man older than Blake. It didn't impact me at the time because the two had loved each other for years. In this story it was made a big deal. - Dan's Wife

Elias Gillham Pack Book 8 edition by Catherine Lievens Romance eBooks Reviews
Older man, younger guy. I loved Eli's gun ho attitude.
I love these series of both Whitedell pride and Gillham pack, and I can't wait to read some more.
Great book. I am happy for Elias and Blake. But poor Jago being taken. What about Zane will he find his HEA?
This was good and I can't wait to read the next one in this series I hope it's soon...... I will be watching for it....
Another great book in this series. I am waiting for each one and have not been disappointed in any book in series.
This one I did enjoy although I thought it was pretty quick and not enough pages for the price. But I enjoyed Elias and Blake and I always love any book with a glimpse of nysys and Keenan
